Even the top plan runs out faster than you would expect
I subscribed to the most expensive Midjourney plan, expecting the higher limits to cover heavy usage comfortably. In reality, if you are generating images at volume - trying different prompts, iterating on compositions, creating image sets for video content - even the top tier runs out faster than you would think. This pricing structure works fine for casual or occasional users, but for anyone doing production-scale work, you will hit limits consistently and end up rationing your generations. The image quality justifies the base subscription cost, but the usage caps on even the highest plan made me reconsider whether it is the right fit for high-volume creative work.

Great quality, but the aesthetic skews Western
One thing I noticed while using Midjourney consistently is that the default aesthetic leans heavily Western. Whether it is character faces, color palettes, or overall composition, the outputs often reflect Western visual references even when my prompts were neutral. For creators working in global or Asian markets, this means extra prompt engineering to steer the style in a different direction - not impossible, but it is an extra friction point. The images still have that unmistakable AI-generated look in many cases too, which is fine for some use cases but can feel out of place in others. The technical quality is high; the stylistic flexibility could be better.

Impressive image quality, but the learning curve is real
I tried Midjourney in 2025 for YouTube Shorts production, generating image sequences that I would stitch together into GIFs for short-form content. When it works, the output quality is genuinely impressive - the detail and style consistency are among the best I have seen from any AI image generator. That said, it is not as plug-and-play as some alternatives. You spend a lot of time figuring out the right prompts to get what you actually want, and without strong prompt skills, the results can be hit-or-miss. For short creative projects, it is a capable tool - just be ready to invest time into learning how to talk to it.
